Bathroom Remodeling

This floating vanity bathroom remodel in Washington, D.C. was designed to feel modern, open, and effortlessly elegant. By combining a wall-mounted vanity with large-format porcelain tile and soft neutral finishes, the space now feels brighter, more spacious, and visually clean—perfect for contemporary city living.

Our team managed the entire renovation from demolition through final installation, coordinating design, materials, plumbing, electrical, tile work, and finishing details.

Project Overview

    • Location: Washington D.C.

    • Project Type: Bathroom Remodel

    • Design Style: Bathroom Remodel with Floating Vanity

    • Scope: This floating vanity bathroom remodel in Washington, D.C. was designed to create a modern, open, and visually light space. By incorporating a wall-mounted floating vanity, large-format porcelain tile, and soft neutral finishes, the bathroom now feels more spacious and refined while maintaining everyday functionality. Floor-to-ceiling shower tile, custom waterproofing, and integrated lighting details complete the transformation, resulting in a clean, contemporary bathroom with a timeless aesthetic.

Full Bathroom Demolition & Site Preparation

The project began with a complete bathroom demolition, including removal of existing finishes, preparation of the work area, and full debris hauling. Our team coordinated all material deliveries and multiple trash pickups to keep the project organized and efficient from start to finish.

Large-Format Porcelain Tile Flooring

To create a seamless foundation for this floating vanity bathroom, we installed 24×48 porcelain tile flooring in a horizontal stacked layout. Cement board underlayment was used for durability, and the floor was finished with 4” white wood baseboards for a crisp, modern edge.

  • Tile: HF Phase – White (24×48)

  • Grout: Antique Ivory 04

Floor-to-Ceiling Shower Wall Tile

The shower walls feature floor-to-ceiling porcelain tile, enhancing the clean lines of the bathroom and visually extending the height of the space. Cement board and RedGard waterproofing were installed behind the tile, and Schluter edging was used for a refined, finished look.

  • Tile: HF Waves – Cloud (24×48)

  • Grout: Irish Creme 10

  • Installation Style: Stacked

Custom Shower Floor & Waterproofing

A custom shower pan was built and finished with marble hexagon mosaic tile, adding subtle contrast and texture to the large-format tile walls. The shower floor was fully waterproofed using cement board and RedGard for long-term protection.

  • Tile: Marble Iceberg Blend – 2” Hexagon

  • Grout: Irish Creme 10

Custom Built-In Shower Niche

To maintain clean lines without sacrificing storage, we created a 12” H x 24” W recessed shower niche. The niche was finished with matching marble hexagon tile to blend seamlessly into the overall design of the floating vanity bathroom.

Floating Vanity & Fixture Installation

The centerpiece of this remodel is a 30” floating vanity, which opens up floor space and reinforces the modern aesthetic. Our team installed all bathroom fixtures, including the floating vanity cabinet, vanity faucet, toilet, shower fixtures, shower door, and accessories. A surface-mounted backlit medicine mirror and side medicine cabinet provide both storage and soft ambient lighting.

(Bathroom fixtures provided under a separate quote.)

Vanity Lighting Allowance

Above the floating vanity, a 48” dimmable LED bath bar was selected to deliver even, glare-free lighting while maintaining a sleek, minimalist look.

Electrical & Lighting Work

New electrical wiring and a dedicated switch were installed for the backlit mirror. The existing bathroom fan and shower light were kept in place to preserve functionality while upgrading the vanity lighting experience.

Painting & Final Finishes

Walls, trim, and ceiling were freshly painted using Benjamin Moore – Marilyn’s Dress, a soft neutral shade that complements the floating vanity, bright tile palette, and modern finishes throughout the bathroom.
