Kitchen Remodeling
This modern rustic kitchen remodel in Vienna, VA blends the charm of natural wood textures with the clean lines of contemporary design. Our goal was to create a space that feels open, inviting, and functional, perfect for family gatherings and everyday living. By removing the wall between the kitchen and dining area, we introduced a bright, free-flowing layout filled with warmth and light.
Design & Cabinetry
The heart of this project features Medallion Gold Line Cabinetry, proudly made in the USA and backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
We paired Potters Mill Hickory Dockside base cabinets with Potters Mill Maple Sea Salt wall cabinets to achieve the signature Modern Rustic Kitchen look—natural wood tones below, soft whites above.
Each cabinet box is built from premium plywood with solid wood frames, soft-close doors, and drawers for lasting durability and everyday convenience. The 42-inch wall cabinets add extra vertical storage while keeping the overall space airy and elegant.
Quartz Countertops & Backsplash Design
To complement the cabinetry, we selected MSI Calacatta Goa Quartz for the perimeter and island countertops. Its subtle veining adds sophistication while maintaining the natural charm that defines this Modern Rustic Kitchen design.
The 10-inch island overhang provides ample seating and a casual dining spot, making the island a true centerpiece of the room.
For the backsplash, we installed Mar Iceberg Double Herringbone porcelain tile from Floor & Décor, grouted with Ardex Antique Ivory. The backsplash extends all the way to the ceiling behind the range hood, visually elongating the space and creating a timeless accent wall.
Lighting & Electrical Upgrades
Lighting plays a key role in highlighting the warm wood tones and soft quartz patterns.
Our team added:
Six 6” LED recessed ceiling lights
Three LED under-cabinet lights with dimmer controls
Two pendant lights above the island (client-supplied)
We also installed new GFCI outlets on both sides of the island, a dedicated outlet for the water filter system, and separate electrical lines for the microwave and dishwasher—ensuring a safe and modern kitchen setup.
Structural, Plumbing & Ventilation Work
To achieve an open-concept design, we removed the non-load-bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room. The space was reframed, patched, sanded, and primed for a seamless finish.
Plumbing was relocated for the new sink and dishwasher locations, and we added new exterior ventilation for the range hood. Every update was done with precision to align with both design intent and functional needs.
Finishing Touches
All hardwood flooring under the removed wall and cabinet areas was patched for a uniform appearance. Appliances were reconnected and tested, including a new InSinkErator Badger 5 (½ HP) Garbage Disposal with Soundseal Technology for quiet performance.
For the finishing hardware, we used Jeffrey Alexander 885-128SBZ knobs and handles, adding subtle bronze tones that tie the entire Modern Rustic Kitchen theme together.
