Who We Are

We’ve completed hundreds of projects across McLean — from 1950s Chesterbrook colonials to newer custom builds in Langley — and most of our work still comes from referrals.

What We Do

Kitchen & Bathroom Remodeling in McLean, VA

We’ve been remodeling kitchens and bathrooms in McLean, VA since 1994. Most of that time has been spent inside the same handful of neighborhoods — Chesterbrook, Langley, Salona Village, McLean Hamlet, Franklin Park, El Nido, Hallcrest Heights, Lewinsville — working on homes that range from 1950s colonials with closed-off floor plans to newer custom builds where the original finishes have started to feel dated.

If you live in McLean and you’re thinking about a kitchen or bath remodel, you probably already know the project is going to be a bigger investment than most. McLean homes are valuable, the buyers who eventually purchase them have high standards, and the materials and finishes have to match. We design and build around that reality. Three showrooms across Northern Virginia, an in-house design team, and one project manager per job from demo to final walkthrough.

    About McLean

McLean Is a Specific Kind of Remodeling Market

Working in McLean isn’t the same as working in Reston or Springfield. A few things we’ve learned over the years that shape how we approach every McLean project:

Older homes with great bones and difficult layouts. A lot of McLean’s housing stock — particularly in Chesterbrook, Salona Village, and parts of Hallcrest — is from the 1950s and 60s. Beautiful homes, solid construction, but with closed-off kitchens, awkward bathroom placements, and tight hallways that don’t match how families live now. Opening these up the right way means understanding what’s structural and what isn’t before quoting, working around original hardwood floors and trim that often shouldn’t be touched, and respecting the architectural character that gave the house its value in the first place.

Newer custom builds with dated finishes. Homes built between 1995 and 2010 in McLean often have great layouts but builder-grade finishes that have aged badly — heavy oak cabinetry, polished granite, gold-toned hardware, beige tile. The remodel job here is different. The structure works; the materials need to come into the current decade without making the house feel out of step with what the rest of the neighborhood is doing.

Resale awareness. A lot of McLean homeowners are remodeling with one eye on enjoyment and one eye on the eventual sale. Buyers in this market notice cheap finishes immediately and won’t pay for them. We help clients spend in the right places — cabinets, counters, layout — and not over-invest in the wrong ones.

Permitting, HOAs, and original details. Fairfax County permitting for McLean projects is manageable but specific. Some neighborhoods have HOA review processes that affect exterior work, additions, or anything visible from the street. We handle all of it.

    Kitchen Remodeling

    Kitchen Remodeling in McLean, VA

Most McLean kitchen remodels we do fall into one of three patterns:

Opening up a closed kitchen. Older McLean homes were built when kitchens were service spaces — closed off from the dining room, separated from the family room, with limited natural light. The transformation here is usually about removing the right walls (after confirming what’s load-bearing), repositioning appliances, and adding an island that anchors the new open layout. This is the most common remodel we do in Chesterbrook and Salona Village.

Full gut renovation. Newer McLean homes with builder-grade finishes often don’t need layout changes — they need a complete materials and cabinetry overhaul. New cabinets, new counters, new backsplash, new appliances, often new flooring. The structure stays. Everything else gets rebuilt.

Kitchen + adjacent room reconfiguration. McLean kitchens often share walls with mudrooms, butler’s pantries, laundry rooms, or back hallways that nobody loves. Some of our most ambitious McLean projects rework the entire back of the house at once — kitchen plus pantry plus mudroom — because doing them together makes more sense than doing them separately.

We design and build with semi-custom and full-custom cabinetry lines (Medallion, Wellborn, and a few others), quartz and natural stone counters from MSI and Cambria, and we don’t sub out tile work or appliance hookup. The team that designs the kitchen is the team that builds it.

    Bathroom Remodeling

    Bathroom Remodeling in McLean, VA

McLean bathroom remodels split roughly into two categories: primary bathroom overhauls and secondary bath updates.

Primary bathroom overhauls are usually the bigger project — converting outdated soaking-tub-and-stall-shower combos into walk-in showers, double vanities, and proper storage. A lot of McLean homes have primary bathrooms that were designed in the 80s and 90s when oversized garden tubs were the dominant trend. Most of our McLean clients are taking those out now and rebuilding around larger walk-in showers, freestanding tubs (or no tub at all), and better lighting.

Secondary bath updates — guest baths, kids’ baths, powder rooms — tend to be tighter-scope projects but still benefit from the same design approach. New vanities, updated tile, modern fixtures, and a layout that makes the small space feel bigger than it is.

We’ve done dozens of McLean bathroom projects in the last few years across both categories. Our team handles all plumbing, tile, electrical, and fixture work in-house.

    Our Process

How We Work With McLean Homeowners

Creating your dream kitchen or bathroom has never been easier with My Kitchen and Bath.

    01

    We visit your home

A designer comes to your McLean home, measures the space, talks through how you actually use it, and asks the questions that shape every decision later — how often you cook, who lives in the house, what bothers you about the current layout, what you've saved on Pinterest, what budget feels reasonable.
    02

    We create a 3D design

Our in-house designers build a 3D rendering of the new kitchen or bathroom so you can see exactly what you're getting before anything is signed. Materials, layouts, finishes — all visible in advance.
    03

We send a detailed itemized proposal within 3 business days

Every line in the proposal is broken out — cabinets, counters, tile, plumbing, electrical, demolition, disposal, permits. You see exactly what you're paying for, and you can make changes before anything moves forward.
    04

    We build it

One project manager from start to finish. No multiple contractor confusion. The team that designed your space is the team you work with on site.
    05

We inspect every detail before we hand it over

Before we call a project done, our project manager and lead designer walk through the finished space together — checking every cabinet door alignment, every grout line, every outlet, every drawer slide. Anything that isn't right gets fixed before the final walkthrough with you. We'd rather catch it ourselves than have you find it later.
